April Prayer Flag - The Comfort of Purple
April was all about purple! Irises, Clematis, Creeping Phlox, American Wisteria, Violets and Redbuds all blooming in my garden at once. What a gorgeous sight! So shades of purple for April’s prayer flag.
I’m reminded of the quote by Alice Walker in The Color Purple:
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.
Purple has been a favorite color for more most of my life. I noticed that my thoughts and prayers this month were often for me. I experienced an injury to my lower back. The pain was intense for a week. I couldn’t do too much except rest and stitch. It’s interesting how a color can comfort and please me.
I’m doing a year-long project of “slow stitching” one prayer flag a month through 2024. Would you like to make prayer flags along with me? I hope you are inspired to! You can find the details here.
