Finding Water: The Art of Perseverance 2024 Book Group for Artists

Creativity is exciting and exhilarating, most of the time. Sometimes we can get discouraged and wonder why we should continue. Wouldn’t it be helpful to have a group to meet with monthly for encouragement? Join me in 2024 as I facilitate a yearlong discussion on Julia Cameron’s Finding Water: The Art of Perseverance.

In Finding Water, Julia Cameron offers guidance on weathering the periods in an artist's life when inspiration has run dry. This book, published in 2006, provides wisdom and tools for tackling some of the greatest challenges that artists face. Each chapter is dedicated to uncovering the ingredients for optimism, reality, support, balance, autonomy, resolve, resilience, truth, perspective, safety, discipline and perseverance – all necessary for the continued creative journey in art and life.

Whether you are a writer, musician, visual artist, or other creative, the lessons and exercises in this book will encourage you to keep going.

We read one chapter a month and do the assignments before the class. When we meet, we share what we are learning from the exercises.

Held at Willow Oak Center for Arts and Learning, 301 5th Avenue West, Springfield, TN
